Soundmapping

This is a collection of ‘found sounds’, largely presented untouched.

As they were. At that time. In that place.

This soundmapping project is intended, in some way, as a contribution to the ever-developing field of acoustic ecology.

Various methods are being used to make the recordings: a shotgun microphone, a stereo microphone, piezo contact mics, hydrophone and binaural techniques.

(Click on any of the red circles on the map to hear or download the audio recorded at that particular place)

Note: Whilst these recordings are presented here to be listened to in whichever way you wish, it is recommended that some are listened to using headphones. Many sounds were recorded using binaural microphone techniques. Your listening experience will be better enhanced and will often give a more 'true' stereo representation when a good pair of headphones are used in these cases.

Field recordings are now the sole source of raw material for my soundworks, currently in production.

Keep an eye/ear on the
audio page to hear excerpts of these works as they materialise.
(Works will be made available for download and/or purchase very soon........ )
